Adapting to COVID-19: Likeable STEM on-site workshops and assemblies have moved to live Virtual Interactive Sessions (VIS) and webinars.

Embark on a journey into the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) field!

Workshops are held year-round and scheduled based on the needs of the participants.

Specialty workshops can be customized: occurring on weekends, after school, and summer sessions, while ranging in length from a few hours to all summer long.

We conduct workshops on-site and live online. Free and discounted workshops are offered to non-profits.

Intro to Web Development Summer Workshop for Piscataway Library

July 2023

Likeable STEM held an Intro to Web Development workshop at the Westergard Library in Piscataway for teens and tweens to learn the basics of HTML, CSS, and Javascript. Students were able to create a personal portfolio website using HTML formatting and CSS design, and even get an introduction to Javascript programming by designing a mock log-in page. Students also learned the importance of web development in everyday use as well as how these skills apply to the job market. Students were able to combine their own creative interests and passions into their websites to make them their own!

stem outreach event with carnegie mellon university information systems for pittsburgh l.a.u.n.c.h. program

November 2022

Likeable STEM partnered with Carnegie Mellon Information Systems to hold a virtual STEM Outreach Event for students from Pittsburgh's L.A.U.N.C.H. program, which encourages curiosity and STEM leadership in high school girls. The participants learned about the Carnegie Mellon Information Systems major, potential careers, and collaborated in a hands-on activity to combine technology with art using Python Turtle Graphics.

2D/3D digital animation summer workshop for piscataway library

July - August 2022

Likeable STEM held a 2D/3D digital animation workshop at Piscataway Library for teens and tweens to learn basic and advanced animation principles. Participants were able to create hands-on projects involving computerized animations, cell animation, digital character design in Minecraft and Scratch, digital comics, and 3D renders of modeling and set design in Tinkercad. Students also learned about machine learning and artificial intelligence in animation through Google AI Experiments.

Likeable STEM held a digital animation demonstration at the Metuchen Library as an introduction for students to get started in computer and 2D animation. Participants created their own hands-on projects such as flipbooks, comics, and their own plot pyramids while learning key elements and topics of traditional animation design in different genres and computerized animation in videogames, current media, and for business applications.

Likeable STEM CEO Anesha and CTO Annika were consultants in Piscataway Library's annual Build It Better Design Challenge, where students aimed to prototype a car fueled by energy from rubber bands, build it out of budgeted supplies, and create a marketing pitch for their product. Consultants aided students in answering business questions, improving their product ideas and formulating their pitches to be competitive in the market.

Likeable STEM partnered with Carnegie Mellon University Information Systems to hold a Match with a Mentor Event for high school students in Pittsburgh Public Schools. The high schoolers met with college students from Carnegie Mellon, University of Pittsburgh, and other schools to gain insight on different STEM majors that they could pursue.

Likeable STEM CTO Annika was featured as a speaker in the UAutomate Challenge presented by Wrk and Blue Prism. She spoke to University of Toronto students participating in the challenge about starting her own venture, combining STEM with her passions, and the importance of entrepreneurship.

Likeable STEM CEO Anesha and CTO Annika participated as speakers in a Women in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, & Math) panel discussion held by the SEAT program of Women’s Enterprise Skills Training Inc. of Windsor in Ontario, Canada to inspire female students to become future makers. Students learned about being a woman and pursuing a STEM career and asked questions pertaining to the panelists' education and career journeys.

October - December 2021

Likeable STEM conducted an Artificial Intelligence Virtual Interactive Session (VIS) during the summer to engage students in Foundation Academy Middle School in New Jersey to experiment with AI and develop AI projects. Students learned about the origin of AI, how it is used in the present, and participated in creating chatbots, games, and interactive projects. Students also trained their own AI virtual machines to recognize speech, drawings, images, and more.

Likeable STEM conducted the Game Design for Future Makers Virtual Interactive Session (VIS) during the summer to engage students in Foundation Academy Intermediate School in New Jersey to create and build their own games. The students learned the history of game design, the role of virtual and augmented reality in gaming, and created hands-on, original projects using web and mobile game development platforms.

Likeable STEM partnered with NCWIT (National Center for Women & Information Technology) and Counselors 4 Computing (C4C) to present an interactive webinar on how school counselors and teachers can encourage students to learn STEM in an interdisciplinary, engaging way. Roadmaps, handouts, and sample interactive STEM projects were provided to educators for implementation in the classroom.

Likeable STEM CEO Anesha Santhanam and CTO Annika Santhanam presented as speakers for California's Summer of CS program in partnership with Counselors 4 Computing (C4C). Likeable STEM presented an interactive program for school counselors and educators to learn about combining CS + X in the classroom and implementing hands-on activities to engage students. Participants received roadmaps for 21st century skills in high school, college, and beyond, and were walked through Makey Makey activities with their students, such as creating music, maps, programming in Scratch, and other projects.

Likeable STEM collaborated with Piscataway library to present an interactive workshop where participants explored the key steps in developing a successful business. The event consisted of fun-filled, hands-on activities centered around product development, pitching ideas, marketing a product and raising funds to take business concepts to the next level. Participants learned the meaning of being and entrepreneur and how to start innovating on their own.

Likeable STEM presented an interactive, unique program for counselors who are part of the American School Counselor Association (ASCA). This webinar was presented to reach a larger audience of over 300 counselors. The purpose of this webinar was the show participating counselors how to use digital tools in their virtual lessons to enrich instruction as well as guide decision-making, streamline work, enhance communication, and promote mindfulness and positivity through SEL engagement.
